The Tamworth and Armidale students raised $7,755 for the Westpac helicopter, which they personally delivered to its base.
Over the past year the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service has carried out over 250 missions in the New England North West. With this in mind the students from the Armidale & Tamworth MET Schools embarked on a mission of their own – to raise funds for this vital not-for-profit organisation.
With plenty of encouragement from their parents and teachers, as well as generous support from their local communities, the students were able to raise an incredible $7,755 which they personally delivered to the helicopter base. During their visit the students learned about the important role the helicopter plays in the emergency care chain and how the Service greatly appreciates the support it receives from the community.
The staff at the helicopter base were suitably impressed by the enthusiasm shown by the students, “We are just so grateful for the incredible fundraising effort they performed” says Event Coordinator Jeff Galbraith “We are very mindful of the amazing support we receive from the communities we serve”.
