Slider hockey, basketball, soccer and touch football were the games of the day at the 2016 Blueshield games, which were held at the University of Wollongong on August 19th.
Passion and energy were on display as high school students from Mt Victoria, Illawarra, Goulburn and Oatlands campuses enjoyed a great day, which was helped by the weather coming to the party with hardly a cloud in the sky.
Divided into their national house teams of Yellow, Green and Red, all teams across all sports participated within the spirit of the games, with the Yellow team prevailing by taking the 2016 shield. One of the attributes of the Blueshield Games is how students from the different campuses gel together in their house teams to form cohesive and competitive squads at all levels.
thanks to all the community members and sponsors who helped make the games a
resounding success. With more than 400 participants and 500 spectators, the
program ran without a hitch and it was a day enjoyed by everybody.
